Jurassic Park Poetry – Celebrating 20 Years of Cloning Dinosaurs

Jurassic Park 3D

This week it is the 20th Anniversary of one of the Greatest Films in the History of Cinema. A film that makes The Avengers look mild in comparison and whose Special Effects are more Magnificent than Avatar. One of the most Magical Experiences cinema has produced to date; Jurassic Park. So to mark the occasion, I thought I would do a quick piece of Poetry , much like I recently did for another Steven Spielberg Classic – Jaws. I may do a bigger post on Jurassic Park at some point, but right now, let us enjoy some Haiku poetry and celebrate one of Cinema’s Greatest Films.

1. The big steel cage

The creature trying to leave

And the feast it’s found.

2. Big heavy footprints

And the surprise of being

Back to life on earth.

3. A small little egg

The small innocent child

The future horror.

4. Poisonous no-show

The hiding king in his wood

And the sick giant.

5. And then came the rain

In the worst place possible

The king has arrived.

6. An idiot thief

With the poisonous no-show

Blinding him for now.

7. Escaped to a tree

With peace, harmony, now safe

With gentle giants.

8. Looking for rescue

From the forbidden island

The jungle can be cruel.

9. Beasts in the kitchen

Like a human wanting food

But wants human taste.

10. The Unlikely help

The escape from the island

Beautiful it was.

Top 5 Actors To Be The New Doctor Who

3 06 2013

DWT

With the recent news that Matt Smith is leaving Doctor Who later this year I thought I would give you my list of who I think should take over the prestigious role. With The Doctor now short on lives as the 1996 TV Movie stated (13 Lives, so basically he has only two lives left) only up to two of the fantastic actors below can have the part in the future if they are considered for the role. So here are my top 5 choices for who should be the New Doctor.

James McAvoy

5. James McAvoy – While this may be an interesting choice for some of you, if it is the case that someone (AGAIN) is chosen that resembles the previous Doctor I would rather James McAvoy be it. McAvoy is a very good actor as shown in X-Men First Class when I was unsure if he could play Professor X. If you are still unsure about the idea of McAvoy in this role, I am going to answer that with a Question. Did you see Welcome to the Punch?

David Morrissey

4. David Morrissey  – Someone with experience of the part. Morrissey has been in Doctor Who before in a role that to many was mistaken to be the Doctor when accidently he wasn’t in the Christmas special, The Next Doctor. Morrissey is very much a classic actor for a modern era and it is thanks to this quality why (along with his Fantastic Voice) he would be the best person to take a classic character into the future while also staying true to his character.

Richard E. Grant

3. Richard E. Grant – Another interesting choice, particularly because of a recent episode of Doctor Who but a choice that shows Great Promise in Experience. Richard E. Grant has played the Doctor on several occasions already but not in the official series. He played the part as one of the Doctors Regenerations in the 1999 Comic Relief special Doctor Who and the Curse of Fatal Death as well as the 2003 animated story Scream of the Shalka. While you may be thinking that with his recent appearance in the show will prevent him taking the role, you’d be wrong as this sort of thing has happened before. The sixth doctor Colin Baker made an appearance in the 1983 story Arc of Infinity playing the part of Commander Maxil. So with this sort of thing happening before (not to mention Freema Agyeman appearing in the show before becoming a companion to David Tennant‘s Doctor) it has not been written out completely for Richard E Grant to take up the part (remember to check out Posh Nosh too).

Richard Roxburgh

2. Richard Roxburgh – An Australian Actor who has played some of the most prestigious literary roles in the media which include the part (and one of the best performances) of Dracula in Van Helsing and the role of Sherlock Holmes (My Favourite Actor to play the role of Sherlock Holmes) in The Hound of the Baskervilles in 2002 for the BBC. I don’t see any reason why he shouldn’t be allowed to play the part of The Doctor. If he gives a performance much like the one he did for The Hound of the Baskervilles, he could easily become one of the best actors to play the role of The Doctor. Still unsure – Check out his performance in both Van Helsing and The Hound of the Baskervilles and see what you think.

David Thewlis

1. David Thewlis – Within a year of Smith taking the role of Doctor Who, I was already saying that Thewlis would have been a better choice and now that Smith is leaving, it is the perfect opportunity for Thewlis to have a go at the role. David Thewlis has appeared in many Great parts and is best known for playing villains. His acting credits include; Black Beauty, Dragonheart, AnonymousWar Horse and Five Harry Potter films as Remus Lupin. David Thewlis is a fantastic Actor, Great Voice, Great Style, can get Angry when necessary but is mostly calm in his parts. He is practically perfect to play the role of The Doctor and now he has an opportunity to do so.

Eurovision Reaction 2013

19 05 2013

Emmelie de Forest

Another Fantastic Year of singing arrived last night as The Eurovision Song Contest took place in Malmö Sweden. Sweden won the contest last year with their successful win with Loreen singing Euphoria. In a remarkable change this year though, the winning song was not shown at the beginning of the show. Instead, a new anthem for the contest was shown with a flag ceremony for the show’s acts which reminded me of the chariots scene from The Hunger Games. The song Euphoria was eventually played as the climax of a series of songs sung together by last year’s winner Loreen.

The presentation of the event was one of the strongest in the show’s history with the show being presented by native comedian Petra Mede. It made a nice change from the standard format of two presenters, one male the other female. It also meant that she was not being held down by the male presenter and could make the job her own, she even conducted the halftime show with a song and dance routine and even included little bits of comedy every now and again. In my opinion I think there should be more of those flash dances that Norway did in 2010.

The competition as a whole had a nice variety of Acts. Armenia had an interesting entry, interesting as the song was composed by Black Sabbath Guitarist Tony Iommi. The song’s overall started off quite well with a nice introduction from France. The song’s continued with some other Good entries from Belarus and Germany (which did sound a bit like Euphoria). But when it came to my Vote as in the county I decided to vote for, I chose the entry from Norway. I liked its heavy style and in some case did remind me of The Prodigy. Throughout the judging of the songs I was constantly willing it on to win. In the end it finished with a respectable 4th place.

The United Kingdom did better this year than last, 3 more countries voted for it than last year’s four and finishing with 23 points overall (11 more than last year) and placed 19th; which is not to bad for the UK considering the recent history. The voting this year was a close one, to begin with many songs were climbing for the top spot continuously but when Denmark (Only Teardrops by Emmelie de Forest)  got the foothold it pretty much held it until it won the contest, however Azerbaijan (the previous year’s host) for a long time were in a position to overthrow it. But with 4 countries left to vote, Denmark had already Won. Bizzarely though, unlike previous years Denmark were announced as the winner with countries still left to vote, it was only after the announcement that the voting continued, but this was probably for the benefit of getting the winner out and ready quickly.  The vote was close overall with the winning song not getting a record score and instead winning with 281 points; 11 points off from Finland’s Victory in 2006. It was another Great year for Eurovision, the winning song was actually quite nice and it was Good to at least see that the Favourite won so there won’t be all this political voting nonsense ruining the entire show. Eurovsion remains one of the Best music events of the year and one of my Favourite events of the year. In 12 months time the show will return, so lets now enjoy all the Great Music from this year and Celebrate Denmark’s third victory in the contest.

GENEPOOL (Denmark did quite well in 2010 coming fifth with one of my favourite songs from that year).
